Success Stories

Tourism Queensland did an outstanding job using PR and social media marketing for their “Best Job in the World” campaign. They went out recruiting for someone to “caretake” one of the islands on the Great Barrier reef,  blog weekly and post videos from the area. On top of this amazing opportunity, the position paid AUS$150,000 AUS. Their digital marketing campaign tied everything together nicely. Potential job applicants had to post their applications on YouTube for the “Best Job in the World”. The campaign was fun, became viral overnight and it came in a time when millions of people need a job. News stations around the world picked it up and distributed it on their channels. This campaign was fun, memorable and creative – an outstanding PR campaign utilizing new technology on a very limited budget.

The campaign won third Grand Prix at the 56 International Advertising Festival in Cannes. Judges called the campaign “classic”, “single-minded” and “very simple campaign”. You can see the results of the campaign on the video below. Amazing coverage and remarkable results. This campaign is definitely my favorite tourism marketing campaign that effectively utilized social media marketing.
